To me there is a clear demarcation line between the past and the future that is presented with the iPad. It was the answer to the question “if one was to make a computer today, knowing what we know about how technology can improve our lives, knowing how our brains interact with such technology and using the latest components (multi-touch high res displays, powerful, energy efficient and light weight) what would we come up with?”

This will divide opinion, and I am not saying Apple got it perfect with the iPad, but they are slowly considering the tweaks they need to make. There can be no doubt that iPad-like devices are the future. I’m typing this on an iPad and happily do so with no mouse or keyboard and am able to navigate far more quickly than I could if I was using those archaic accessories. But to do so has taken effort, and there are a lot of lazy people out there who don’t want to put in the effort to make technology work for them in the long run.

This is a fascinating talking point and will never have a resolution. But I for one have been waiting for this future technology my whole life and I’m certainly glad to be able to do any work I can think of on a device like this, it’s nothing short of miraculous.
